The old saying is true, “Women are a lot like a teabag, You never know how strong you are until you end up in hot water!” It began in the basement of her suburban home on the out skirts of Philadelphia. Desiree Arney spent her childhood holding casting calls for neighborhood kids, designing costumes, and constructing sets complete with curtain draw. Under her direction, family and friends were invited (without an option) to see the greatest show in all the land! In elementary school Desiree was an orphan in the Broadway hit Annie and a princess in the King & I performed at the Bucks County Play House. During her late teenage years, despite her parent’s warnings Desiree took a sip of rebellion and lost her way. An unmarried, pregnant teenager would now need to focus on being a mommy. To add to her cup of adversity Desiree’s own mother suffered a severe brain aneurism followed by kidney failure and eventually cancer. It was then that she realized changes needed to take place and that life would never be the same. Challenges of teenage motherhood, single parenting, and difficult life lessons have shaped this now married mother of 3 into a woman of impact. In fact, it was her two daughters that actually inspired her to return to the stage in a whole new way when she set a tea party table for them one summer afternoon. As her tea bag seeped, her entrepreneurial spirit blended with creativity and passion began brimming with possibilities. She spent the next several months dreaming up ideas when The Tea Lady began to take center stage. A Princess with a Purpose. Desiree knew she had a captive audience and seized the opportunity to shape hearts.

Desiree is delighted to be performing once again, “Life takes us on journeys we may not have ever chosen if we knew it would be so hard, but what we are taught in difficult places can not be learned anywhere but there” say Arney. “My children have been my greatest teachers and my deepest joy. O let’s not forget the Prince, my husband of 15 years Jim, my Knight in Shinning Armor has filled my cup with strength and encouragement that has allowed me pour freely into the lives of others.” Desiree resides in Burlington County New Jersey.
