WGAY 99.5 FM Welcomes Kenny Rogers - On Saturday, May 23, 1998 two old friends, WGAY 99.5 FM and Station Avenue Productions reunited to present Kenny Rogers in a free show at the Washington Monument.
Last year, almost immediately following the Captain & Tennille and B.J. Thomas First Anniversary Concert at the Monument Bob Deutsch, Marketing Director, WGAY, called Station Avenue to start planning this years concert. After a great team effort the show went off without a hitch promoting General Manager Rick Mack to say: "Thank you for an outstanding job... Let's do it again next year". Actually, it was Rick's predecessor Bennett Zier who initially had Bob Deutsch and the Station Avenue team put this show together.
Once more, the Station Avenue team proved that a combined experience of 65 years helps to make each and every event, large and small, a success.. with No Surprises.
